Low diastolic blood pressure: causes and treatment
Diastolic pressure is the measure of how much pressure the blood exerts on the vessels at the end of diastole (relaxation of the heart before contraction). The decrease in diastolic blood pressure (hypotension) may occur with normal systolic pressure, and then it indicates the number of diseases. In any case, any changes in the readings of the tonometer and the deterioration of health of the patient is necessary to consult a doctor.
Possible causes of low diastolic blood pressure
Weakness of the heart muscle or blood vessels (cardiovascular disease).
Renal insufficiency (impaired selection of renin, essential for maintaining of elasticity of small blood vessels).
Asthenic-neurotic syndrome or vegetative-vascular dystonia.
Infectious diseases (tuberculosis, pneumonia, intestinal infection) and related intoxication.
Diseases accompanied by blood loss (trauma, heavy menstruation) and hemoglobin (anemia, gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer, ulcerative colitis).
Diseases of the endocrine glands (hypothyroidism).
Avitaminosis (lack of vitamins, vitamin C, E).
Osteochondrosis of the cervical spine.
Physical, nervous or emotional exhaustion.
Acclimatization (abrupt climate change).
Stress, insomnia, busy schedules and lack of sleep.
Long-term use of the drugs side effect which is hypotension.
How does a low diastolic pressure?
Symptoms of hypotension:
- headache, often accompanied by dizziness, loss of orientation in space, the darkening of the eyes, the appearance of «stars» or spots before the eyes;
- fatigue, weakness, drowsiness, low capacity for work;
- emotional instability (anxiety, depression, sometimes depression);
- feeling of compression in the chest;
- the feeling of «fluttering» in the chest, increased heart rate;
- excessive sweating, sensation of cold extremities;

- anxiety – irritability, depression, mood swings.
Treatment of arterial hypotension
Before to treat a disease, you need to know why it arose. For this you need to consult a doctor and undergo a complete examination. If abnormalities of the internal organs are not found, the main treatment will be to establish a way of life.
Pressure fell below normal?
The Ministry of health says «a New drug normalizes blood pressure forever.»
The mode of work and rest. Night sleep should be at least 8 – 9 hours a day. Labor day needs to assume 15 minute breaks every 3 working hours and one hour break at lunch time.
Day it is advisable to start with walking in the fresh air. In the morning toning and training vessels will be useful exercises and breathing exercises in the fresh air. The total amount of time spent outdoors must be at least 2 hours a day.
Contrast shower in the morning. The change of temperature will increase the elasticity of blood vessels and normalize blood pressure. High blood pressure drops, and low – will increase slightly.
Hot tubs and hot showers, on the contrary, is not helpful. You should also avoid prolonged stay under the hot sun without a hat.
If there are no contraindications, hypotensive will be useful for active sports – skating, skiing, swimming, brisk walking or Cycling.
Massage – toning massage manipulation (rubbing, kneading). It is recommended to pay special attention to the area of the hands, feet and calf muscles.
Soft drinks (strong tea, coffee) will lead to tone the blood vessels and raise pressure. But do not abuse this habit, otherwise they may lose the mechanisms of self-regulation in blood pressure in the body. A good tonic effect has a ginger tea. It can be prepared either from fresh root, grated on a fine grater, or from a dry powder. Constantly it is not recommended to drink, it is better to take breaks in reception.
Drug treatment reduced diastolic blood pressure
It must be remembered that any medications are taken only after consulting a doctor and determine the cause of low pressure. Otherwise, self-treatment could further hurt, and you have to treat not only hypotension.
Herbal adaptogens. These drugs have a stimulating and toning effect on the nervous system, heart, blood vessels and the whole body. These include Siberian ginseng, ginseng and schisandra. Drugs have contraindications!
The combination of hypotension and symptoms of asthenia (weakness, fatigue, apathy) used nootropic drugs (Piracetam, Pantogram, Phenibut). They have a stimulating effect on the nervous system, improves metabolic and energetic processes in the body.
Multivitamin complexes raise the tone of the entire body, improve stamina and resistance to physical and emotional stress, as well as for the shortage of needed vitamins.
