In the typical for most Russian regions temperate climates it is grown as a houseplant, and only in the summer months it can be planted in the garden. In Russia Chinese onions appeared relatively recently – about half a century ago. The people called him «the hellish root,» partly because of the large size of the bulb, but mainly because of the burning sensation on the skin when used for medicinal compresses.

- organic acid;
- amino acids;
- essential oil;
- different trace elements.
The plant contains a lot of colchicine – alkaloid, possessing an excellent anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, as well as preventing the deposition of uric acid crystals in the joints. In addition, the Chinese bow has good antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and also improves blood circulation and prevents blood clotting.
To use «hell of a root» need with extreme caution. Although part of it colchicine and effective for the treatment of various diseases of the joints, its overdose can cause serious poisoning of the body.

For treatment you can use almost all parts of the plant: bulb, leaves and flower arrows. Raw material for the preparation of tinctures is better to take in the flowering period of the plant, i.e. November – December. For its preparation you will need 1-2 leaf onion, 20 g of eucalyptus oil and 50 g of rubbing alcohol.||Leaves a bow you need to mash in the pot with a wooden mortar.
